The 50 MW 12 diesel engine plant supplies one half of the power requirements at the remote Masila block oil development site for Nexen Inc. of Calgary. In addition to the normal challenges of building to the high quality standard in the oil and gas sector, the project was faced with geographical, cultural and remote challenges in local temperatures up to 50C.

Both principals of Angus Power were responsible for managing the project through design to construction and Commissioning, and led the turnkey execution of the project for MAN Diesel. Responsibilities included project management, source selection and procurement, construction management and commissioning of the plant. John Hawkes was project director for Phase 1, and Jean Sawaya fulfilled the role for Phase 2.
